Broken Charger is a menu bar app for macOS that watches how reliably your Mac charges. This policy covers both the app and this website, and it is short because there is almost nothing to disclose.
What data does the Broken Charger app collect?
None. Broken Charger contains no network code at all, so it is technically incapable of sending anything anywhere. Its Mac App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected". Specifically:
- No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting services
- No accounts, no sign-in, no identifiers
- No advertising and no third-party SDKs
What does the app store on my Mac?
A small local database of charging events and charger names, kept in your user
Library, on your Mac only. If you grant the optional permission, the app also reads
macOS's own power log folder (/var/log/powermanagement) read-only,
through the standard macOS file picker with a security-scoped bookmark. Nothing is
ever written to that folder. Deleting the app removes its data.
What about support messages?
If you contact support, the developer receives what you send, uses it only to help you, and does not share it. The app's "Get Help" button shows you exactly what an attached log would contain before anything is sent, and sending without logs is always offered.
What data does this website collect?
This is a static site. It uses Google Analytics to understand anonymous, aggregate visit statistics (pages viewed, country, browser type); Google Analytics may set cookies for that purpose. The contact page loads its form from Tally (tally.so); Tally receives only what you type into that form. The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, whose infrastructure keeps standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Nothing collected by this website is ever connected to the Broken Charger app, which contains no network code and cannot phone home.
